Further to the excellent news that the Swanage Railway Trust has agreed to enter into a 99 year agreement with the Swanage TC Group, the Swanage Railway Trust has set up a Designated Fund to receive all future income and fundraising for the TC.
The Designated Fund can only be spent on the TC, and the STCG Committee have been appointed as the Committee of the SRT STCG Sub Group.
Being part of a Registered Charity has additional benefits for our Project, because Members donations and subscriptions can raise additional funds for the TC Project via Gift Aid.
Gift Aid is explained further on the HMRC Website, briefly; 20% of the value of a Gift Aided ‘donation’ is paid to the Charity by HMRC, when the Charity does a Gift Aid declaration.
More information here:-
To enable the 4TC Project to gain additional funding via Gift Aid, our members’ subscriptions must be paid into a SRT bank account. Please can you amend your Standing Order to pay your regular standing order to the new SRT TC bank account:-
Swanage Railway Trust – 4TC group
Account  number 13462420
Sort code   20-68-79

In addition, if you are a tax payer, please download and print this Gift Aid form, fill it in and send to Lorna Lock at Swanage Railway.

The STCG Committee will have access to statements for the SRT TC bank account, so we can continue to record members’ contributions and share purchases.

We are pleased to announce that after several months of negotiations, The Swanage TC Group was, at a meeting of the Swanage Railway Trust Council of Management on the 30th of August, officially adopted as a Sub Group of the Swanage Railway Trust. This will be further reinforced by the imminent signing of a 99 year lease of the Unit to the Trust. Our restoration plan was also approved.

Not only does this guarantee our Unit a permanent home at the Swanage Railway once restoration is completed, but it also opens the door to the many benefits of carrying out the restoration as part of a charitable trust. This includes gift aid on any members and supporters donations.

We are planning a meeting open to all our members in the next few weeks to explain this new arrangement in detail and to explain the restoration plan and we also hope to make another exciting announcement within the next few weeks, so watch this space!

We thank you for your ongoing support.

The Swanage TC Group Committee

The Swanage TC group have had a fantastic diesel gala weekend. It was great to see a 4TC back in Swanage after over 40 years, and to experience the 4TC at full speed on the main line with a class 33.
A good amount of money was raised through the sale of "Old Pusher" on board the 4TC, and merchandise on the stand at Norden.
Thanks go out to all who helped make the event happen and to those who supported it.
Hopefully it won't be long until we can have our own TC running, as the visiting one seemed very popular.

4TC on the Swanage Branch again

The Swanage TC group will be at this years Diesel Gala, with our stand at Norden, on board the TC charter trains and on the TC during the "Day on the Mule" event.

On the stand, we are hoping to sell things such as railway books, videos, models etc, so if you have any unwanted railway items to donate, please let us know, as they will be of great help to us. We also need people to help man the stand, so if you fancy spending a few hours talking to people about TC's, please let us know via the usual channels.

If you are traveling on the charters or during the "Day on the Mule" and fancy a beer or two, you may be pleased to know that we will be selling our own supply of the very popular "Old Pusher" beer on board.

We have just had another working weekend at the Midland Railway centre. The main objective for the team was to tarpaulin over the whole unit to protect it from the winter conditions. We fitted two overlapping tarpaulins on each coach, with carpet squares laid over the roof vents to prevent friction, secured down with ratchet straps and rope.

This was done within the two short days, and as you can see in the picture, really stands out from the other stock as the tarpaulins are white.

All wrapped up for Xmas

A general inspection of the unit was done, and it was disheartening to find that some idiot had walked the whole length of the TC, just to smash the glass on the drivers speedo and brake gauges, and that someone had carefully stolen the motor brush boxes out of the compressor drive motor. We believe they were stolen to order, as they have been removed carefully with all cables being undone rather than cut, and all nuts and bolts removed during the theft were refitted afterwards which points to them being removed by someone who knew exactly what they were after rather than your average metal thief. Not stuff that is hard to find replacements for, but annoying that someone has been there since June just to cause damage to the unit.

We also did some assessment on some of the internal electrics, to see what components will be required to get the heating and lighting working.

Now that this preventative work has been done, the main focus is to carry on fundraising to get the first vehicle overhauled. If you ,or anyone you know, would like to help us by becoming a share holder or annual member, please see the "how can I help" link on the website, or contact us by email on the "contact us" link.
